Hunger Bee Gone Canstruction

Buzzing into Spring

Now that spring is here our thoughts turn to fun, sun and sizzle. All work-related of course. What better way to capture these things than for us to have recently been named as one of Tourism BC’s preferred suppliers. With the 2010 Olympics fast approaching, we’re excited at the chance to work on some of the initiatives that will promote the province we’re all so proud to live in.

We’re also quite proud to have participated in our sixth Canstruction Vancouver with partner Best Buy Canada. Our eight foot high honey bee, made primarily of 9,500 cans of food, was awarded the GDC Graphic Designers Choice, but the real winners of this food and fundraiser for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank are the people who will receive some of the over 162,000 cans raised from the event. Next year’s event will see the grand total number of cans donated from Canstruction Vancouver topping one million!

Speaking of food, not too long ago we released one of our children out into the world. In the Kitchen, our food blog, was reconceived, renamed and redesigned as Foodists.ca. It now has a roster of over 25 like-minded contributors raising more than a few eyebrows in the food and beverage industry establishment. Check it out, but not on an empty stomach.

Some of our recent projects of note are the just-launched blog and website for Henriquez Partners Architects, an identity and product brochure for Ledalite, a new identity for Elysian Coffee, naming, identity and packaging for Ronnie Shewchuk and Denzel Sandberg’s Natural Champions line of barbeque sauces, an online interactive brand tracking and visualization tool called Branded Life and a new website for Chatwin Engineering.

The economy got you down? Use design to survive the recession. Recently Mark wrote an article on behalf of GDC called How to Use Communication Design to Weather a Recession for Business in Vancouver (BIV) Magazine. Hope it resonates with you.

Here’s to a fabulous summer of grilling and barbecuing. If you’re not sure of the difference, better find out!

It is our intention to send similar yet infrequent communications like this one. Of course, if you do not wish to receive future emails of this nature, please click the unsubscribe link below and we will remove you from the list, forever, or at least until you change your mind.
