Bukowski’s, the popular restaurant & live venue on Commercial Drive, has announced it has been sold to a local businessman who plans to revamp the kitchen and rename it Sash. A regular Sunday night hang out of ours, we’re sad to see it change and wonder what will happen to the amazing blues group called the Hard 8 Trio. The group hammers out delta blues classics with Paul and Rick on acoustic guitars and Monty on Harmonica. The energy, emotion and rich depth these three musicians create together is nothing less than magic to witness. You have to see it to believe it. Apparently they have recorded an album just about to drop, so we’re pretty keen to get our hands on that. Photo: David Harding

Yup, it’s sad to see Bukowski’s go. We (The Hard 8 Trio)enjoyed a regular Sunday night gig there for almost 2 years. I’d have to say that these have been some of the most enjoyable nights I’ve had in my 35 years of performing. And the audiences we have had there are the best in the world. We are inches away now from the Hard 8 CD being finished. Also we are booked for one more gig at Bukowsk’s this Sunday night, Oct/30/05, 9 – 11 pm. We thought that Paul wasn’t going to back in town by then but as it turns out, now he is. We have invited some special guests as well as Paul Rigby joining us on mandolin and steel guitar. So where will Hard 8 play now? Here are a few of our upcoming shows in Vancouver.
Oct.30/05 – Bukowski’s
Nov.3/05 – Arts Club Lounge – live TV taping for APTN/Bravo Network – Tix: $10.
Nov.19/05 The Main Cafe.
Hard 8 doesn’t have our own website yet but you can usually find info about us on my website: http://www.ricktaylormusic.com or on Paul’s website: http://www.cousinharley.com
Thanks for your comments Mark and many thanks to all the H8 Heads who have supported us these past few years. Hope to see you at the shows. Keep your stick on the ice!
