There have been numerous arguments and theories – not to mention a few postgrad theses – postulating the Simpsons to be the most intelligent, moral, culturally relevant, Freudian, feminist, multi-cultural, political, socially satirical, ad infinitum show on television.
It seems one could also add “scientific” to these accolades. Interestingly, three Simpsons’ writers have science PhD’s and numerous others have fairly accomplished scientific backgrounds. Seed magazine met with Al Jean, head writer of the Simpsons and David X. Cohen, a former Simpsons writer and now executive producer of Futurama to find out what makes scientists so damn funny.
