We are getting close to adding the one millionth word to the English language. And that word is more than likely going to be, wait for it “Noob”. See definitions at wiktionary.org and Urban Dictionary.
“The widespread popularity of English as a second language in Asia has brought about the most fertile period of word generation since William Shakespeare’s time with new terms coined on average every 98 minutes,” reports the Telegraph. With the average persons vocabulary being less than 20,000 words it’s a good job that more words are coming to a dictionary near you soon.
“The Global Language Monitor” track word usage and predict the Millionth word on June 10th, 2009 at 10.22 am. There are some great facts on the homepage of the site, make sure you check it out.
Stay tuned.

Not surprised to see ‘noob’ being added to the dictionary. Although its sort of a ’slang’ word right now it is widely used in the gaming vocabulary, and on the internet. It’s been around for a while now, among other words, specially in younger age-groups.
