NYC’s True Graffiti Problem

Although I work in an industry that is unavoidably related to advertising, I have to admit that the prevalence of advertising is reaching ridiculous levels, embedding itself deep within almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate clever advertising, but much of it is just visual spam that seems to be infecting every public place. I’m surprised that you don’t see ads on the back of church pews and on the sides of hospital beds (having said that, I’m sure that it’s probably already in place somewhere.)

The Anti-Advertising Agency has found a non-destructive way to both draw attention to and hide the advertising infestation in New York city by placing lasercut black foam boards over Fortune 500 Companies’ illegally placed video screens that say “NYC’s true graffiti problem”. Mostly what they’re trying to accomplish is harsher consequences for this illegal advertising, as the current one seems to be authorities simply removing the offending displays.
