
I love giving our resident pop culture princess a hard time about the new Madonna album, but the fact remains: Madonna is one of the most successful marketers of the last century. Now she seems to have caught a new wave: social software. Her website madonna.com has launched the Tagging Project with the ojective “to build the largest photo archive ever devoted to a single subject: Madonna”. Her fans are asked to submit any and all of their Madonna-related paraphenalia as scans to a growing online image database. The interesting thing is that this already seems to exist in the Flickr realm. So has someone just copied Madonna’s latest marketing genius or is this Madonna herself discovering the power of social software such as Flickr? [kudos: guerilla-innovation.com]
