IvanAnywhere

I don’t want to harp on my pathetic luck, but last week I rebroke my foot doing too much too soon. It’s highly disappointing discovering that you are not, in fact, invincible, and that stubbornness is your own worst enemy. I’ve been told by my doctor that if I don’t want to risk surgery, I’d better hole up for 6 weeks and not move, therefore I’m working from home for the next little while. I have to say though, it’s a bit lonely what with my coworkers being cats that sleep all day.

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon this article via Make. Now that I’m working remotely it seems highly relevant:

Ivan Bowman is shown on his video screen (attached to the stalk of IvanAnywhere in photo at right) from his home in Halifax. From there, using the computerized IvanAnywhere, he can observe activities at iAnywhere Solutions Inc. in Waterloo, work on software coding, attend meetings, ask questions — even gaze out the window. Ivan is little more than a webcam, screen and speakers mounted on a radio-controlled truck.
