Much has been made already of the websites of Hillary vs. Obama. (spawning countless “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” comparisons) but a new site has sprung up in an effort to save a campaign that, by many accounts, is going down faster then Monica in the…. well…. you know what I mean. Hillary Speaks for Me offers “real” Americans to give their endorsements for Hillary.
As a web developer I’ve taken interesting notice of the design and production level of political websites during the campaigning for the US Election. Is it important that websites are products to the often heralded and maligned Web Standards? Unto itself, probably not but I can’t help but raise an eye brow that the production level and quality of Hillary’s site is a throw back to what was popular when Bill was in power. Rather ironically the best designed element is the footer at the bottom of the page that states that the site itself has no affiliation to Hillary’s campaign. Fooled me.
