Finding the Sweet Spots

Malcolm Gladwell's TED talk
Some of us are hooked on the adrenaline high that comes from pushing ourselves hard and living in the fast lane (no, its not an Eagles reference). Life seems to be getting busier and busier every week, which has got me thinking about the life-work balance. Finding that sweet spot in your professional life. Is there one?

I’m sure Malcolm Gladwell would say “No, there are many”.
Here’s an inspiring talk about Spagetti Sauce and much more by the author of The Tipping Point and Blink.

One Response to “Finding the Sweet Spots”

  • Jeremy Thorp (November 24th, 2006)

We were having a conversation about this last night at the Railway Club, after our panel discussion. Gord from Engine digital recommended this book – Flow.

The short summary that Gord gave was something like this: We can graph our experiences in life with Skill on one axis and Challenge on the other. The ’sweet spots’ happen when the balance between these two things is perfect. Otherwise we fall victim to either boredom or frustration.

    Might be worth a read.
