When I was in Cuba for the Icograda International Congress one of the most moving presentations was about a community building project in Rwanda run by Alan Jacobson. In a week filled with Cuban Festivities and wall to wall design talks, his presentation stood out in a moving and extremely impactful way not only to hear a first hand account of the aftermath of the Rwandan Genocide, but also share one of the healing processes and the impact that a designer can have. AIGA has featured Alan’s story in a recent article that is well worth a read.
