From our friends and super design duo The Smith Brothers: I don’t know if you’ve seen these yet, but the new sites for Ikea are amazing (well if you’re totally nuts for video like we are), it takes a combination of the camera work seen in The Matrix and brings A QTVR feel to it where gravity ceases to exist. The people on the backend of the video are of course a Swedish company, Sto.pp, who brought in some amazing camera rigging, guide wires, and stone-like actors, in an effort to flawlessly motion track each setup to an eccentric level.
All of the elements were then composited separately by some heavy hitting effect artists, their work includes rebuilding ceilings, walls, floors, and painting out the wires that held the actors in place. The site was completed by Kaka Entertainment, and in my mind pushes a new level of web integration, see what I’m talking about here and here.
An honorable mention is this heavy 3D site built on the same groundbreaking premise, maybe you can learn some Swedish while you’re there. Briljant Komposition.
