Bloc Party Remixed, Canadian iTunes Inadequacies & The Elusive Phones

If you are anything like us, you are still playing the heck out of Bloc Party’s debut album “Silent Alarm”. For a band that could have easily ridden the coattails of fellow UK new wavers, Franz Ferdinand, they have demonstrated a formidable and discerning talent of their own.

Now, with the new track-by-track remix album, Silent Alarm Remixed, purportedly even better than the original it is clear that we will be rocking out to the Bloc well into the Xmas season. The only issue is that the Canadian iTunes Music Store is not stocking it. This is certainly not the first time that Canada iTunes has left us wanting. This needs to change.

One of the best remixes of Bloc Party that we have heard that is included on this new album is the Banquet Disco Remix by the Phones. These guys have been mixing up some of the best music out there including the stellar Lover Mix of Death from Above 1979′s Romantic Rights. Does anyone know anything about these guys? We would like to find out more about them.

After doing some digging on the web I came across this website: http://www.paulepworth.com/.

Apparently Paul Epworth is “The Phones” and all his remixes are “made in 8 hours or less with an apple laptop using (mostly) cracked os9 software, a cheap vst sound card and whatever outside influence makes me laugh enough to inspire it.”
